End of the year Video Reflection

Technology

I learned how to work the cameras and film using cool techniques that make the films look more professional. I learned them from watching other videos and films for inspiration and from Mr. Coopers teachings. It was important to learn these techniques, because this is the field I want to work in. I did face technical problems with the cameras. My greatest strength is editing and my weakness is  being a cinematographer. Every time I create a film I improve my cinematography. I am going to look for a career using video editing techniques. I would change the angles and little mistakes made in my films.

Collaboration

It is important to work with your peers and collaborate with them in video. In fact, this in my opinion is the most essential part to creating a good film. I learned this skill from being randomly placed in a group with members I may not even know. My strength is helping come up wth video ideas, and my weakness is following through with all of those ideas. The challenges I faced were arguments about what we should do next with the story, but besides that everything went great. I am going to pursue a future and career with what I've learned.

Communication

This I believe is the second most important skill for video. I learned how to take and implement ideas with my classmates. It's very important to lay down your ideas with the team and talk with them in order to create the best film that you can. My strength is talking to my team and my weakness is giving constructive criticism on ideas they may have during the film because I think it's rude. I will use these skills in school to gain better relationships with the people around me.

Project Management

Even though I may not edit everyday in class, I always turn in my project by the due date no matter what. I have never had a late project. I always use my filming time as efficiently as possible as well. My greatest strength is turning projects in on time. My weakness to project management is not using everyday I get to its fullest.

Leadership

Being a leader in video means taking responsibility for your team. I learned leadership by nature and time. I faced challenges by little arguments of ideas. My main strength is knowing what to do and taking initiative. My weakness as a leader is planning everything out. I will you the leadership skill I have learned for just about any situation.

End of the year Animation Reflection

Technology Skills

While in Animation I learned a lot of technical skills. I learned them from tutorials and teachings. Its important to have these skills in order to pursue an animation career. I faced many challenges including confusion and computer difficulties with the program. My strengths include 3D modeling and after effects projects. My weaknesses include using photoshop and illustrator to create a scene. I may use my special effects skills to add them to any future video I may make. I would change the details I never added when I made my projects.

Collaboration Skills

Collaboration was a large part of e-Communication in animation. Especially in our final project collaboration was a huge part in order to finish the project as a group. We all had assigned roles and we worked together to complete the task at hand. I personally didn't face any challenges because everyone got along very well in my group. My collaboration strength would be contributing in projects by using my animation skills. My weakness would be to bringing ideas to the table. I am going use these skills in my work in order to help out.

Communication Skills

Communication is very similar to collaboration. Getting along and talking to figure out each persons position in the project was important. Also communication was important even while working alone. In case you have a question its important to have communication in order to ask your peer a question. I had no challenges in this field. My strength for communication is talking and assigning roles. I will use this skill in work as well.

Project Management Skills

Arguable the most important skill to learn and have for the rest of your life. You learn this skill by being responsible and turning your projects in on time. I typically didn't face any challenges, but if I did, it would be not enough time to finish a project. My strength for project management is turning things in on time. My weakness would be to rush and lack detail on those projects. I would change the amount of time I spend messing around when I could be adding more detail.

Leadership Skills

Being a leader means taking responsibility for your team. Its important because no team is successful without a leader. Again, which my team we didn't have any leadership problems because we all just did as we were told, and that was that. I would say as a strength that I am very good at taking initiative. My weakness would be that I am not always the right leader for every job or project.

Animation Plausible Impossible

Mirror

It is plausible to think that you could simply walk through a mirror. The Reason is because when you see your reflection, you could think you could go straight through it. The reality is that it is physically impossible to walk through a mirror because it is a physical object.

Telephone

In this scene, a telephone is using the cord to jump rope with Mickey Mouse. For a little mouse, if he knew how to jump rope it is plausible to see how a long cord can be spun in order to jump rope. But, yet again it is impossible because phones don't come to live, and a mouse doesn't know how to jump rope.

Cards

Cards as we all know, need to be shuffled. But can they shuffle themselves? The answer is obviously no. But in a cartoon like this, they used cards that come to life shuffle themselves, which makes sense because thats what cards do.

Pen Rifle

When Mickey is running away from the cards chasing him, he picks up a pen and used the ink as ammunition against the cards. Pens are infamous for exploding or releasing ink, which makes this scene plausible to happen. Although, he uses a button or lever on the pen to shoot the ink, which is not the case in real life because you can get ink to the tip of the pen but not completely shoot it out, making it impossible for this to happen.

Fan

Finally, Mickey manages to hold off the cards by turning on a fan, which ultimately blows them away. This is very plausible, as fan do blow wind and air, which cards are vulnerable to blow away from. The only impossible reason for this scenario is that a mouse cannot turn on a fan by himself.

Movie Trailer - Entertainment

About:

My music video was about The Breakfast Club. I worked on this trailer with a large variety of people. The people in my group included Luke and Ainsley. Together we accurately filmed and editing this movie trailer compared to the original one. I learned about tracking, overlaying sound when editing, and using the boom mic. This project was difficult in getting costumes and all the actors to show up at once. The location was easy to find and record in. This was not one of my favorite projects, but the experience is what counts.

Music Video - Entertainment

About:

I made a music video with Andrew and Chris. It was a remake of the song Wiz Khalifa - See You Again ft. Charlie Puth. This music video took a lot of planning and inspiration form other videos to make. The storyline of the video was made by Andrew and I. It was a lot of fun making, shooting, and editing this project. I also synchronized the filming to the music. During the editing I added filters. This was one of my favorite entertainment project so far. I learned how to plan and synchronize beats, during the making of this music video.

Professional Project Review - Music Video

Saint Motel - Benny Goodman

This music video has many good video shots. I noticed the birds eye, worms eye, and panning when watching this music video. Birds eye is when the camera angle is lifted or in a higher point of view than the scene. Worms eye is the opposite. Its when the camera angle is below or from under the subject. Panning is when the camera moves side to side.

This music video makes a great example of these camera shots. I plan on using these camera shots to film my own music video. This band is very popular and is known to include stories in their music videos.

In my music video I will incorporate these techniques. This music video has also taught me to include a story inside the video itself. Saint Motel is one of my favorite bands and I love to see their videos.

Animation Portfolio Reflection

Watermelon Project:

This is my most recent of my favorite animations. The most important thing I learned through this project is the ability to draw a character/icon/prop, and be able to scan it into the computer and later animate it. In my animation I drew a watermelon that has separate arms, legs, body, eyes, mouth, and other body parts. I picked this project to get the unique feel of creating an animation created originally from me. I was easily able to draw and scan my character into the computer. The most challenging part of this specific animation was to get a synced walk cycle. I've improved my walk cycle tremendously by creating more projects that included a walk cycle, and I plan to continue to improve. I would move the arms of my character in a future edit. In conclusion, my walking watermelon animation was created through my drawing and put into a walk cycle that was somewhat challenging.

Story Animation:

I created this story animation by combining all of my past skills into this story. I decided to make my story based on a Mother owl who flies away and the children owls are left alone. In this project I combined Arcs, Timing, Puppet Pin, Multilayer, Walk-Cycle, and Keyframe Interpolation/Eases. I decided to see what I could make by combing my preterite knowledge. I was able to create the different scenes and put them together with ease. I had a little trouble with animating the eggs cracking, but in the end it looked very nice. Finally, if I were to change anything, I would color correct some of my props.

3D Castle:

In the making of my castle I used the program
Maya. Using this program I learned the basics in making 3D objects. I picked this project to
prove to my self that I wasn't limited to 2D
projects. Im proud of the textures I used in the final product. I would create a floor to my castle if I was to go back. Over time I've gotten better at walls, floors, and textures even more than before. I am going to make more 3D animations with the knowledge I've gained in this program. In the end, I will make more projects like this one in 3D, using textures and more complex designs.

Hammer:

Second, I made a hammer and nails with Maya. This was one of my most complex 3D projects. I learned how to use vertices and faces to make more complex polygons such as hammer heads. I picked this project to create a project made of more than just simple shapes. I'm very pleased with the entire hammer and how it turned out. I would improve the nail next time I had the chance. In conclusion, I am going to bevel the nail to have rounder edges and fix the point on the nail to seem more realistic, but I am overall satisfied with my hammer project.

Ice Cream 3D Animation:

This project is my first Animated 3D project. I chose this project in order to see if I had the potential to animate a 3D project. I learned how to do so. Im proud of everything that I created in this animation with an exception on the textures. I would definitely go back and redo the textures, because I had "booleans-unioned" the Ice cream, so unfortunately I could not go back and texture them. In the end I think I came through with the project because I got it to animate with great looking props.

3D Realistic Pen:

For my final 3D project of the semester I made a pen that I own in real life! I chose to do this so I could create something that I owned so I could recreate it on my computer! I am very proud of this pen and it is my all time favorite 3D project by far. It was a challenge to make the clips and the tip of the pen. Despite those obstacles, I still managed to complete the project almost identical to my real life pen. I learned how to use the soft select tool in order to bend a polygon in my favor to create something new and unique. I'm most proud of this project! Finally, Making this realistic pen that I own in real life was a lot of fun to create and compare to my real pen!
